HISTORY OF THE INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL OF MISSIONS IN SUDAN

The idea of having an International School of Missions and the vision for starting a mission school programme in Panyagor in Southern Sudan came from the Holy Spirit of God as he moved upon the heart of Bishop Elijah Abuoi Arok during his theological training in Thika, Nairobi, Kenya.

During that season of his life he was also training church leaders from different denominations resulting in a vision to establish a mission school in Narus. With that vision burning in his heart, he shared the idea with the African Christian Mission International (A.C.M.I.) who readily agreed with him. Bishop Arok then founded the International School of Missions in Sudan (ISOMS) in the year 2002 after he graduated in Thika. He later requested support from A.C.M.I. who graciously agreed to support the programme for a period of 1 year with food and one teacher.

The first training started in Narus on 8, April 2003, consisting of about 6 months with 20 students and the following teachers: Bishop Elijah Abuoi from CCI Sudan, Pastor Michael Mading from Full Gospel Church of Sudan, James Philiph Karuah ACMI, the late venerable Rev. Mark Akuin Gak from E.C.S., and Rev. William Magot Mareng from E.C.S

In January 2004, Bishop Elijah Arok attended the General Annual Meeting with the Global Discipleship Training Alliance (GDT Alliance) in Nairobi, Kenya where he sold the vision of the school to them as well. They also agreed to offer financial support that helped to meet some, but not all the requirements of the school. By that time, the school retained a qualified staff of diploma and degree holders with the curriculum being comprised of a minimum of 25 to a maximum of 35 practical, theoretical, and research oriented course—theological academics intended to train Christian leaders.  All who enrolled agreed that their training was so powerful that they would never be the same again both spiritually and academically.
